Jeonnam Province Achieves Selection for Ministry of the Interior and Safety's "Youth Village" for Five Consecutive Years

Creating Business Models Including Green Tea Food Product Development

Jeonnam Province has achieved the remarkable feat of being selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Youth Village program for five consecutive years. The Youth Village program is designed to support young people in settling in local areas and voluntarily establishing the foundations for their work and lives.

Since Mokpo Gwaenchana Village was first designated in 2018, Jeonnam Province has continued the project with the selection of Sinan Juseomjuseom Village in 2021, Gangjin Byeongyeong Creative Cooperative in 2022, Goheung Sinchon Dream Village in 2023, and Yeongam Dalbit Forest in 2024. This year, Boseong Jeonchecha Lab Village was selected, marking the fifth consecutive year for the province to participate in the program.

The selected villages receive up to 600 million won in support over three years. In the first year, 200 million won is provided, with an additional 200 million won per year for the next two years, depending on project performance.

Through this program, Boseong Jeonchecha Lab Village plans to develop a variety of food products themed around Boseong green tea, operate tourism programs utilizing unused village spaces, and create new business models in the tea industry together with young people.

Kim Myungshin, Director of the Population and Youth Policy Bureau of Jeonnam Province, said, "The Youth Village program is a great policy that revitalizes local communities and provides new opportunities for young people. We will continue to provide full support to ensure that Youth Villages become a driving force for regional development."

Separately from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Youth Village program, Jeonnam Province has been actively implementing policies to invigorate local communities by establishing 17 Jeonnam-style Youth Villages since 2022, with a total project budget of 5.1 billion won, putting young people at the center of local revitalization efforts.
