Taebaek City to Host the 2025 Heavenly Wild Greens Festival for Three Days Starting May 2
Purchase Pristine Wild Greens Like Gondre and Sanmaneul at Affordable Prices
"If you missed out on tasting spring greens this season, come to the Taebaek 'Heavenly Wild Greens Festival'!"
On April 22, Taebaek City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Lee Sangho), announced that the 2025 Taebaek Heavenly Wild Greens Festival will be held for three days from May 2 to May 4.
Taebaek is the region in Korea where you can enjoy the vibrant spring season the longest. As a result, visitors can savor fragrant, wild mountain greens from the pristine highlands later into the season than anywhere else.
This year's wild greens festival, held at Jangseong Tantanmauel (centered around Jangseong Central Market) under the theme "Spring Returns to the Mining Region," will feature a variety of stage performances, wild greens sales, hands-on experience and participation programs, and a wide range of sights, activities, and foods for visitors to enjoy.
At the Taebaek Wild Greens Festival, visitors can purchase and taste locally foraged wild greens such as gomchwi, gondre, chwinamul, eosuri, bracken, sanmaneul (myeonginamul), nuridae, and nungaeseungma, all harvested in the Taebaek area.
During this festival, Taebaek's signature wild greens and Korean beef will be available at significantly discounted prices. Visitors can also discover local dishes made with wild greens, as well as a variety of agricultural specialties and processed products.
One of the festival's main events is the "Find the Gift Certificate in the Box" event. During the festival, lucky participants who purchase a 1kg box of wild greens may find a randomly placed local gift certificate (worth 50,000 won, 30,000 won, or 10,000 won) inside.
A Taebaek City official stated, "With spring upon us, we hope many people will show interest in and visit the 2025 Taebaek Heavenly Wild Greens Festival, held in Taebaek, the city of year-round festivals. We will do our utmost to ensure that everyone has a wonderful time through a vibrant and seamless festival operation."
