According to local media outlets including Bloomberg and CNBC, citing sources, President Trump will meet at the White House with major retail companies such as Walmart and Target, as well as large home improvement retailers Home Depot and Lowe's, to discuss the effects of trade policies.

This meeting comes as President Trump has postponed the implementation of reciprocal tariffs on all countries except China for 90 days.

U.S. companies are concerned that President Trump's aggressive tariff hikes will lead to higher import prices, increased consumer prices, weakened consumer sentiment, and decreased sales. During the meeting, the CEOs of retail companies are expected to explain to President Trump the damage caused by the tariff policies and request a relaxation of these measures. In particular, there are significant concerns that these retailers, which rely heavily on affordable imports, will be hit hard by the additional 145% tariffs on Chinese goods imposed since President Trump took office.

Home Depot explained to CNBC regarding the meeting, "We regularly meet with the government on issues that impact our customers, associates, and our business."
