A new book by SBS defense correspondent Kim Taehoon, titled "Gyeomgun Gyeomgun: Martial Law Presidents and the Groups Who Aimed Guns at the National Assembly (The Purple Media)," which thoroughly analyzes the 12·3 Martial Law Incident, has been published.
"Gyeomgun Gyeomgun" features exclusive interviews with the so-called "Three Martial Law Commanders"?former Minister of National Defense Kim Yonghyun, former Director of the Defense Security Command Noh Sangwon, and former Director of the Defense Counterintelligence Command Yeo Inhyeong?that have not been made public before. The book also includes reporting records from the presidential office, the Ministry of National Defense, intelligence agencies, and the 707th Special Mission Group. According to the publisher, these materials reconstruct the behind-the-scenes events of the 12·3 Martial Law Incident.
Kim Taehoon, SBS defense correspondent, stated, "If this book can make even a small contribution to exposing the DNA of martial law and the DNA of politics embedded within our military, I will feel that the effort of organizing materials and writing late into the night was worthwhile." He added, "I hope our military can quickly shake off the specter of the 12·3 Martial Law Incident, regain the trust of the people, and be reborn as a strong military."
