From Listed Companies to Insurance, Payments, and Funds
The Reality of Bitcoin Financial Strategies and Innovative Business Models in Seoul
As the traditional financial market begins to show structural interest in Bitcoin, Asia’s largest Bitcoin conference, 'Bitcoin Seoul 2025,' will be held from June 4 to June 6 at PIE FACTORY in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
This event is drawing attention as a platform to explore, in one place, the changing institutional investment behaviors following ETF approvals, listed companies’ Bitcoin treasury strategies, and the real-world business models of global companies creating innovative services based on Bitcoin.
On June 5, the focus will be on cases of listed companies adopting Bitcoin strategies within regulatory frameworks. Japanese listed company Metaplanet, benchmarking the strategy of MicroStrategy, became the first in Asia to include Bitcoin in its corporate asset portfolio. Meanwhile, Europe’s The Blockchain Group became the first EU-listed company to officially announce a Bitcoin-centric treasury strategy and incorporate it into its accounting system.
This stage will not simply introduce these strategies; the executives and key figures who actually led these decisions will attend in person to share the background and strategic considerations behind adopting Bitcoin as an asset at the listed company level.
These two companies are leading the trend of Bitcoin adoption in institutional treasury strategies, being the first listed companies in Asia and Europe to officially adopt Bitcoin as an asset. Their presentations are expected to go beyond mere case studies, symbolically illustrating the changing global financial environment and shifting market perceptions surrounding Bitcoin.
On June 6, deeper discussions from financial and economic perspectives will continue at the 'Bitcoin Finance Forum.' This session will feature Preston Pysh, co-host of the global investment podcast 'Investor's Podcast' and capital market analyst, as well as Stephan Livera, who has extensively covered Bitcoin's economic intrinsic value and adoption models. The two speakers will present and engage in dialogue on topics such as changes in the global macroeconomic environment surrounding Bitcoin, the restructuring of investment strategies following ETF approvals, and the structural differences between traditional finance and Bitcoin finance.
This session will go beyond simple price forecasts or technical introductions, exploring what the trend of Bitcoin assetization means for the existing financial order and how institutional investors are interpreting this shift. Designed to provide strategic insights to global asset managers, policymakers, and financial practitioners, it is expected to serve as an important milestone for those seeking to understand Bitcoin within the financial ecosystem.
On the same day, innovative Bitcoin-based business companies presenting at the event are also attracting attention. 'Wallet of Satoshi,' a leading Lightning Network-based payment solution, has processed over 22 million cumulative transactions, establishing itself as a representative example of real-world Bitcoin payment infrastructure with its simple user experience and global compatibility. 'Meanwhile' is the world’s first and currently only company to offer Bitcoin-based life insurance services, fundamentally redesigning the traditional insurance industry and gaining significant attention. Recently, Meanwhile successfully raised $42 million (approximately 57 billion KRW) in Series A funding, demonstrating the market potential of Bitcoin-based financial services.
Additionally, John Riggins of The Bitcoin Ecosystem Fund, a venture capital fund specializing in the Bitcoin ecosystem, will participate as a speaker to introduce growth cases and investment trends of Bitcoin-based startups worldwide.
An event official stated, "Bitcoin Seoul 2025 is more than just a technology-focused conference; it is a venue where participants can witness, through real-world cases, how Bitcoin is being integrated into the core of traditional financial systems, including accounting, treasury strategies, and risk management." The official also emphasized, "This will be the first stage in Asia where participants can directly experience the real trend of Bitcoin’s financial adoption and its global expansion potential."
Bitcoin Seoul 2025 will feature an AI-based real-time interpretation system, enabling anyone to participate without language barriers. Information on the speaker lineup, tickets, and other event details can be found on the official website.
