Prosecutors Indict Woman on Murder Charge for Killing Husband, a Well-Known Real Estate Lecturer
A woman in her 50s has been indicted on charges of killing her husband, a well-known real estate lecturer, by striking him with a blunt object.
On April 21, the Criminal Division 1 of the Pyeongtaek Branch of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, led by Chief Prosecutor Hwang Suyeon, announced that it had indicted a 55-year-old woman, identified as A, on charges of murder.
A is accused of fatally striking her husband, identified as B, multiple times on the head with a whiskey bottle while he was lying on the floor of their apartment in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, at around 3 a.m. on February 15. B was immediately taken to the hospital after A reported the incident, but ultimately died.
According to the prosecution's investigation, A committed the crime in a fit of rage after a heated argument with her husband, during which she suspected him of infidelity while he was demanding a divorce.
It has been reported that A claims she acted impulsively after being threatened with a kitchen knife by her agitated husband during a marital quarrel.
However, based on forensic consultation, prosecutors determined that, contrary to A's claim that they were facing each other during the altercation, B was attacked while lying down.
Prosecutors also specified the motive for the crime through additional analysis of electronic data from A's confiscated mobile phone, identifying evidence that B was demanding a divorce and that A suspected B of infidelity.
B is reportedly a well-known lecturer in the field of real estate public law.
