Pusan National University (President Choi Jaewon) will provide 'Disaster Relief Scholarships' to enrolled students from regions designated as special disaster zones due to the large-scale wildfires that occurred last month. The eligible regions are Andong-si, Uiseong-gun, Cheongsong-gun, Yeongyang-gun, and Yeongdeok-gun in North Gyeongsang Province, Sancheong-gun and Hadong-gun in South Gyeongsang Province, and Ulju-gun in Ulsan.
This scholarship was established to fulfill Pusan National University's fundamental responsibilities as a national flagship university and to provide practical economic support to students from affected areas, helping them continue their studies in a stable environment.
Eligible applicants are undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at the university who are originally from the regions declared special disaster zones by the government due to the recent large-scale wildfires. Students are eligible if either they themselves or their immediate family members have been confirmed as victims of the disaster.
Applications for the scholarship can be submitted through the Pusan National University Student Support System from May 7 to May 16. Each recipient will receive 500,000 won.
Choi Jaewon, President of Pusan National University, stated, "I hope that this financial support and our heartfelt encouragement will help students who are facing daily difficulties due to the large-scale wildfires to recover quickly and return to their normal lives, even if the assistance is modest."
