On April 21, the Gwangju Donggu District Council announced that Chairperson Mun Sunhwa had participated in a relay campaign to raise awareness of population issues.

This campaign, jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare, aims to inform the public about population issues such as low birth rates and aging, and to enhance social awareness. Since October of last year, local governments, public institutions, and companies across the country have been participating in the campaign in relay format.

Chairperson Mun Sunhwa joined the campaign after being nominated by Kim Myungsoo, Chairperson of Gwangsan District Council. Mun Sunhwa then nominated Lim Taek, Mayor of Donggu District, and Lee Myungsook, Director of the Gwangju Eastern Education Support Office, as the next participants in the campaign.

Chairperson Mun Sunhwa stated, "To overcome the generational challenges caused by low birth rates and aging, it is necessary not only to make institutional efforts but also to improve awareness and build consensus throughout society. Taking this campaign as an opportunity, the council will actively support the creation of a 'happy Donggu where it is good to give birth and raise children' through various demand-oriented and customized birth encouragement policies."
