Seongdong District to Hold 4th "Only One Earth" Event

Seongdong District (District Mayor Jung Wonoh) announced that it will hold the 4th "Only One Earth" event at Wangsimni Square on April 22 to promote a culture of carbon-neutral living.

This event is being organized to mark the 55th Earth Day and Bicycle Day, with the aim of raising awareness about global warming and the climate crisis, as well as emphasizing the importance of eco-friendly practices. The event will feature 15 experience and promotional booths across six themes: Resource Exchange Center, Eco Experience Room, Seongdong District Eco Policy Promotion Zone, Eco Play Zone, Zero Waste Zone, and Eco Stamp Zone. Visitors will be able to directly participate in and enjoy these activities.

At the "Resource Exchange Center," residents can bring highly recyclable items such as milk cartons, transparent PET bottles, and used batteries to exchange them for recycled toilet paper or new batteries. This initiative has received enthusiastic support from residents every year. This year, the program will expand to include power banks, clothing, and tumblers, which can be exchanged for items like scrubbers and eco-bags, offering even more benefits.

The "Eco Experience Room" will offer eco-friendly programs for all generations. For children, there will be environmental education activities such as "Upcycled Waste Instrument Experience," "Making Cardboard Toys," and "Making Ice Pack Air Fresheners." Adults can participate in practical activities such as "Tablecloth Making" and "EM Soap Making." There will also be family-friendly programs like "Planting Companion Plants in Recycled Pots" and "Making Scrap Wood Magnets."

The "Zero Waste Zone" will showcase a variety of upcycling pop-up stores. The district plans to install a new bicycle steam cleaning machine at the Oksu Bicycle Rental Station (168-1 Oksu-dong) and will actively promote this service to encourage bicycle use. In celebration of Bicycle Day, steam cleaning services will be provided for 30 bicycles. Steam cleaning is an eco-friendly technology that uses high-temperature steam to minimize water consumption. Residents can apply to participate through the Seongdong District Office website's quick reservation system.

The "Seongdong District Eco Policy Promotion Zone" is a visually engaging exhibition space where residents can learn about Seongdong's flagship ESG policies and achievements, such as the Seongdong-style Smart Shelter, Five-Minute Everyday Garden City, and Success Bus. The district will use eco-friendly wood walls, illustrations, and objects to help residents better understand these policies.

In the "Eco Stamp Zone," residents who sign up for Eco Mileage or participate in environmental surveys will receive practical eco-friendly prizes such as kitchen detergent refill packs and EM soap, actively encouraging participation in carbon-neutral activities.

Jung Wonoh, Mayor of Seongdong District, said, "I hope that the 'Only One Earth' event will inspire more residents to voluntarily participate in eco-friendly green practices," adding, "We will continue to implement a variety of lifestyle-focused projects to achieve carbon neutrality and build a sustainable Seongdong."
