Honam University Korean Language Education Center, led by Director Yoon Young, announced on the 20th that it had conducted a traditional culture experience program to enhance international students' understanding of Korean culture and to strengthen the bonds among them.
The event, held over three days from the 16th to the 18th at locations such as Pyeongchon Premium Village and the Gasa Literature Museum in Gwangju, attracted a total of around 300 participants. The participants departed from the university in the morning and traveled to Pyeongchon Premium Village, where they spent time experiencing traditional culture and nature with all five senses.
The experience program included activities such as making ceramic necklaces, pounding rice cake, experiencing Bandi local food, and forest exploration. These activities provided international students with opportunities to directly experience traditional Korean life and culture. They also visited the Gasa Literature Museum and the Gwangjuho Lake Ecological Park, where they broadened their understanding of the culture of classical scholars and Korean classical literature, and enjoyed the spring scenery of Korea firsthand.
Wang Pingchuan, a Chinese international student, said, "It was really interesting to try various traditional Korean foods and to experience the process of making ceramics," and added, "I am grateful to the university for providing such opportunities."
Director Yoon Young stated, "Cultural experiences are not just simple field trips, but an opportunity for international students to adapt more deeply to Korean society and to feel a sense of closeness," and added, "We plan to continue operating a variety of cultural exchange programs in the future."
