'2025 Bukhansan Azalea Festival' Opens

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, Announces the Official Opening of the 2025 Bukhansan Azalea Festival
with Butterfly Release Performance on April 20

On April 20, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the opening ceremony of the '2025 Bukhansan Azalea Festival' held at Bukhansan Healing Town. Together with local residents, he released 1,500 butterflies, marking the start of the festival.

The '2025 Bukhansan Azalea Festival,' now in its fourth year, is Nowon's representative spring festival. It takes place at the 'Azalea Hill' in Bukhansan Healing Town and attracts numerous visitors every year.

Last year, a total of approximately 230,000 people visited the festival over 13 days.

At the opening ceremony, the butterfly release event served as the official kickoff of the festival. Mayor Oh Seung-rok and local residents released a total of 1,500 butterflies, including cabbage white butterflies, large white butterflies, and yellow butterflies, to celebrate the beginning of the Azalea Festival together.

This was followed by a bubble performance and a traditional performing arts show, adding to the attractions for visitors. Various performances, including circus acts, will continue every weekend throughout the festival period.

On April 27, a joint performance by an orchestra, Poppin Hyunjoon, and Park Aeri is scheduled to take place.

In addition, various spaces within Healing Town, such as the 'Butterfly Garden,' 'Nowon Garden Support Center,' and 'Forest Healing Center,' are hosting hands-on programs, allowing festival visitors to enjoy a richer experience.

This year, the festival is themed 'Healing with Azaleas and Fairy Tales,' and outdoor libraries have been set up throughout Healing Town. Spaces such as 'Book Rest Area Banggeut,' the Cafe Forest lawn, and the picnic area have been transformed into book lounges, where various reading programs, including picture book reading and book curation, are being held.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok stated, "This year, we have prepared an even more vibrant festival for everyone visiting to enjoy the spring. I hope you will fully appreciate the beauty of spring throughout Azalea Hill and spend special moments with your loved ones."
