Governor Kim made this remark at the Yeongnam Region Joint Speech Event for the Selection of the 21st Presidential Election Candidate, held at the Ulsan Exhibition and Convention Center in Ulju-gun, Ulsan, on this day. He said, "I will attribute the glory and legacy of President Roh Moo-hyun to the Democratic Party and to the candidates present here."
Governor Kim continued, "Twenty years ago, I sat down with President Roh Moo-hyun to envision the future of our country. The very first long-term national development strategy for Korea, Vision 2030," adding, "We designed a welfare state that would soar with two wings: growth and distribution." He went on to say, "However, we were discouraged by verbal attacks such as 'leftist policy' and 'tax bomb.' Even the constitutional amendment, which involved the bold decision to shorten the presidential term, ended in failure."
He further stated, "I am confident that I can achieve the dreams that President Roh Moo-hyun could not fulfill: the dream of a welfare state and the dream of balanced national development," and added, "I, Kim Dongyeon, firmly believe that this path leads to a country for all, an advanced nation for our lives."
He also said, "Consumption is declining, investment is drying up, and jobs are disappearing. Household debt has already surpassed its critical threshold, and even the Trump tariff storm has struck," emphasizing, "I, Kim Dongyeon, make a clear promise: I will fight and overcome the economic crisis."
