The '45th Disability Day' ceremony was held at the outdoor music hall of Gwangju City Hall on the 19th.

The event, held under the theme "A World Where Our Tomorrows Shine Together," was hosted and organized by the Gwangju Federation of Disabled Persons Organizations. It was attended by Gwangju Mayor Kang Gijeong, Gwangju City Council Chairperson Shin Sujeong, Gwangju Superintendent of Education Lee Jeongseon, council members Yang Bunam, Jo Incheol, Jeon Jinsuk, and Park Gyuntaek, Gwangju Federation of Disabled Persons Organizations Chairperson Kim Youngsun, member organizations, persons with disabilities and their families, and approximately 900 participants in total.

The ceremony included awards for distinguished service, scholarship and sponsorship presentations, and the appointment of promotional ambassadors. Notably, this year, various experience booths were operated by organizations for both persons with and without disabilities to encourage citizen participation and bring vibrancy to the event. The funds raised through citizen participation are planned to be donated to support recovery from wildfire damage. On this day, Mayor Kang presented commendations to 10 individuals recognized for their contributions to the advancement of disability rights and welfare.

Mayor Kang stated, "We have created a joyful festival where everyone, regardless of disability, can come together," and added, "We will continue our efforts to build a community where people with and without disabilities can join hands without discrimination, while addressing shortcomings such as mobility rights and employment issues."
