Chonnam National University to Host Academic Conference: "Imagining New Humanities from the Local" Poster for the 7th Emotional Humanities Academic Conference by the HK+2 Emotional Humanities Research Group at Honam Institute of Advanced Studies, Chonnam National University.

The HK+2 Emotional Humanities Research Group at the Honam Institute of Advanced Studies, Chonnam National University (Director: Professor Jung Myungjung), announced on the 19th that it will host the 7th Emotional Humanities Academic Conference.

The conference will be held from April 25 to 26 at the Kim Namju Memorial Hall in Building 1 of the College of Humanities at Chonnam National University. The event will consist of four sessions in total. The first session, on April 25, will address "Issues and the Future of Emotional Humanities in the Posthuman Era." The second session will focus on "Empathy Fields and (Trans)Locality: Place, Media, and Narrative," featuring presentations and discussions by researchers from various fields.

This academic conference is expected to provide an opportunity for critical reflection on the research achievements of the HK+2 Emotional Humanities Research Group thus far. It will also center on discourses surrounding major recent issues in the humanities, such as the "climate crisis," "urban commons," and the "multispecies world discovered in ruins." The event aims to broaden the scope of the humanities in the glocal era and offer perspectives on its future.

The third session, scheduled for April 26, will be held under the theme "The Next Generation of Honam Studies," with emerging researchers in regional studies presenting their work. The fourth session, titled "Discussing Regional Sustainability," will invite field experts from various sectors of the local community to share diverse perspectives and practical case studies on sustainability.

Director Jung Myungjung stated, "Through this academic conference, we hope to examine the theoretical expansion and practical applications of emotional humanities, and to create an opportunity to explore new visions for the humanities at the intersection of regionality and globality."
