"The April 19 Revolution: A Shining Achievement in the History of Democracy"

Acting President and Prime Minister Han Ducksoo stated on the 19th, "The most important key to overcoming crises is unity that brings together the strength of the people."
Han made these remarks while attending the 65th anniversary ceremony of the April 19 Revolution at the National April 19 Democratic Cemetery in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, on this day. He said, "We still face numerous challenges and difficulties ahead of us."
Han emphasized, "Externally, geopolitical risks are expanding around the world and the global economic order is also being reorganized. Domestically, social conflicts and national division are deepening. If our people unite as one, we can overcome all these difficulties."
He continued, "Unity is synonymous with mutual prosperity," and added, "I will devote all my efforts to resolving social conflicts through dialogue and cooperation, and to transforming the strength of the people into the driving force for national development."
Han said, "The April 19 Revolution is a shining achievement in the history of Korean democracy that everyone must remember. The spirit of that day, which symbolizes freedom, democracy, and justice, became the foundation of the Constitution of the Republic of Korea. I believe it was the driving force that set our democracy straight and built a nation we can be proud of."
Han added, "We must remember the sacrifices and contributions of the democratic martyrs and cherish and uphold their spirit. The government will do its utmost to honor the democratic merit awardees and to care for and support their bereaved families."
