Accelerating the Shift to Eco-Friendly Transportation
Expanding Distribution to Various Groups, Including for Delivery Use
Uiseong County in Gyeongbuk is launching a full-scale electric two-wheeler distribution project as part of its eco-friendly policies aimed at reducing fine dust and greenhouse gas emissions.
On April 18, Uiseong County announced its plan to distribute a total of 30 electric two-wheelers this year to improve air quality. The project will provide 21 units for the general public, 3 units for priority recipients, and 6 units for delivery use.
The priority recipients include people with disabilities, those in the lower income bracket, basic livelihood security recipients, persons of merit and independence patriots, small business owners, families with multiple children, and individuals who scrap their internal combustion engine two-wheelers to switch to electric models.
When purchasing an electric two-wheeler, subsidies of up to 3 million won per vehicle will be provided, depending on the model.
Specifically, the maximum subsidy is 1.4 million won for light models, 2.3 million won for small models, 2.7 million won for medium models, and 3 million won for large models. For other types, the maximum subsidy is 2.7 million won.
In particular, those who scrap an internal combustion engine two-wheeler and switch to an electric model will receive an additional 300,000 won. Small business owners, people with disabilities, those in the lower income bracket, and farmers will receive an additional 20% of the national subsidy, while delivery use models will receive an additional 10%.
Applications for the subsidy are open from April 18 until the budget is exhausted. Applicants must have had their address registered in Uiseong County for at least three months as of the application date and must have no outstanding local taxes or fees.
Residents wishing to apply should sign a purchase contract with an electric two-wheeler manufacturer or importer (sales agency) and then apply through the zero-emission vehicle purchase subsidy support system.
Kim Jusu, Mayor of Uiseong County, stated, "Expanding the distribution of electric two-wheelers will bring tangible improvements in air quality and real results in greenhouse gas reduction that residents can directly experience. We will continue to implement eco-friendly policies to make Uiseong a better place to live."
