Reflecting Citizens' Feedback: Soil Replenishment and Trail Surface Maintenance
Forty Barefoot Trails to Be Created by the End of This Year
Gwangsan District in Gwangju has begun a comprehensive maintenance project to improve user satisfaction with the "Barefoot Trail in Front of My House," which has become a popular leisure space for local residents.
On April 18, Gwangsan District announced that it has been operating 36 barefoot trails since 2023 to promote a healthy walking culture where people can directly feel the texture of soil and earth. In response to the recent increase in demand for outdoor activities, the district is conducting a thorough inspection of all sections and carrying out maintenance that reflects citizens' feedback regarding inconveniences.

The current maintenance includes removing foreign objects along the trails, repairing the surface, replenishing soil, and cleaning foot-washing stations. To encourage voluntary citizen participation in managing the trails, brooms will be provided, and soil storage boxes will be installed at locations with high usage.
Gwangsan District originally planned to create 32 barefoot trails, but now intends to expand the number to 40 by the end of the year. A district official stated, "Along with maintenance, we will continue to incorporate citizen feedback to further improve user satisfaction."
