Pohang City Launches Parent Call Center... Providing Parenting Counseling and Linked Welfare Services

Full-scale Counseling Begins on Child-Rearing and Alternative Methods for Behavioral Issues After Opening Ceremony

The 'Pohang City Parent Call Center,' which provides counseling services for parents experiencing difficulties in raising their children, held its opening ceremony on April 18 and has now begun full operations.

The Parent Call Center, located in Jangnyang-dong, Buk-gu, Pohang, offers counseling in various areas such as child-rearing and alternative methods for addressing behavioral issues. When necessary, the center will provide in-depth support by connecting parents with professional counseling and welfare services.

The center is expected to play an important role in resolving the challenges faced by parents and improving the child-rearing environment within families.

The Pohang City Parent Call Center project was selected last year for the 'Child-Friendly City Support Project to Overcome Low Birthrate' promoted by North Gyeongsang Province. Based on this, the center is operated in cooperation with the Graduate School of Counseling at Handong Global University.

To ensure stable operation of the center, benchmarking of other regions began in February this year to acquire operational know-how. In March, cloud equipment and facilities were established, and professional counselors were recruited and trained.

The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Jang Sangkil, local dignitaries, and Park Hyekyung, Vice President of Handong Global University, who all wished for the successful operation of the center.

Deputy Mayor Jang Sangkil stated, "The Pohang City Parent Call Center will go beyond simple counseling to play a key role in resolving parental challenges and improving the child-rearing environment. We hope the center will help prevent child abuse and enable parents to acquire positive parenting techniques."
