[Market Focus] Xplus Rises on Highlighted Status as Xperix Subsidiary, Beneficiary of Lee Jaemyung's "No. 1 Campaign Pledge"

Xplus is showing strong performance. This is interpreted as being highlighted due to its status as a subsidiary of Xperix, which is considered a beneficiary stock of Lee Jaemyung's "No. 1 campaign pledge."

As of 2:11 p.m. on April 18, Xplus was trading at 773 won, up 5.03% from the previous day.

Xperix is known to hold a stake in FuriosaAI, an artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor startup that Lee Jaemyung, a presidential primary candidate, visited as his first official event after announcing his candidacy.

Xplus is a subsidiary of Xperix. Yoon Sangcheol, CEO of Xperix, also serves as CEO of Xplus. On January 20 of this year, CEO Yoon was invited to the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., where he met with Hong Sagwang, president of the Korea-U.S. Friendship Association, and Richard Crock, chairman of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Federal Supporters Association.

Following Lee's visit to FuriosaAI, an AI semiconductor design company, Xperix has hit the upper price limit for two consecutive days. Lee has pledged a 100 trillion won investment in AI as his "No. 1 campaign pledge," stating, "We will rationalize related regulations so that companies are not burdened by unnecessary restrictions and can focus on technology development."

Xperix has supported technological innovation in AI semiconductors as an early investor in FuriosaAI through its affiliate, Intellectual Discovery (ID). Xperix has been a key partner, starting with FuriosaAI's initial IP consulting and participating continuously in investments from Series A through Series C. More recently, Xperix has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with FuriosaAI to support the construction of a multi-purpose synchrotron accelerator in North Chungcheong Province, continuing their collaboration.

In addition to Intellectual Discovery, Xperix has acquired companies such as Xplus and Purple Corporation and established XCM Co., Ltd., a materials specialist, thereby expanding its business scope beyond its existing digital ID business into consumer goods and materials.

Meanwhile, Xplus, founded in 2005, primarily manufactures and sells wearable accessory products such as covers for mobile IT devices, wireless chargers, and earphone cases. In December 2022, Xplus merged with BNT International, a company specializing in accessories for Apple products, to strengthen its mobile accessory portfolio. The company is expanding its business by supplying NFC tagging smart accessories and IP-based accessories.
