Celebratory Performances by Popular Singers
and a Drone Light Show
The Damyang Bamboo Festival, designated as an Honorary Culture and Tourism Festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will celebrate its 24th edition this year. The festival will be held from May 2 to 6 at the Juknokwon Bamboo Garden area in Damyang.
This year’s festival, themed “Immersed in Damyang’s Green?A Feast of Bamboo with Daenamoo,” has been organized as an immersive stay-type event, offering enjoyment throughout both day and night.
The opening ceremony will take place on May 2 at 5:00 p.m. in the parking lot area of Jeonnam State University. Starting at 5:30 p.m., popular singers such as Lee Chanwon and Ji Changmin will perform celebratory concerts, followed by a drone light show that will illuminate the festival night in spectacular fashion.
This year, a variety of new content has been prepared with family visitors in mind, allowing all generations to enjoy the festival together throughout the day. The main stage will be located in the parking lot of Jeonnam State University, where visitors can leisurely enjoy the opening ceremony and performances while sampling local cuisine at the nearby regional food hall.
Across the festival grounds, more than 150 booths will be operated, including food booths to promote Damyang Hanwoo beef consumption, Damyang local specialty product shops, dessert zones, and exhibition and promotional booths, providing a wide range of attractions and experiences.
In pursuit of a sustainable festival, food booths will use reusable containers that have been washed and sterilized instead of single-use containers, aiming to reduce waste and contribute to carbon neutrality.
To encourage tourists to enjoy the festival all day and stay an extra night?thus boosting local income?admission fees for Juknokwon and Metaland will be provided as refundable vouchers. During the festival, Juknokwon will also offer free nighttime admission from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., providing even more attractions. On the final day, May 6, the festival will conclude with a bamboo ensemble concert and a traditional Korean music performance by the Korea Traditional Music Association.
On April 18, County Governor Jeong Cheolwon said, “We invite you to experience the romantic path with bamboo, from Damyang’s local delicacies to exciting performances and a variety of hands-on activities,” adding, “We hope you will create unforgettable memories in Damyang, the home of bamboo imbued with history and culture.”
