Spreading a Joyful Learning Culture
Cultivating Habits of Self-Directed Learning
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education Academic Achievement Development Institute (Director Kim Hyesun) will operate the 'Study! BASS! Learning Motivation Enhancement Challenge' for students from third grade in elementary school to third grade in middle school in the Busan area, starting from April 21 and continuing through November.
This challenge has been organized to promote a joyful learning culture among students and to help normalize self-directed learning in their daily lives.
Through this challenge, the Busan Academic Achievement Development Institute will select outstanding students, classes, and schools that make excellent use of BASS. The selection will be conducted in two sessions (the first from April 21 to August 31, and the second from September 1 to November 30). The selection criteria for outstanding BASS utilization include BASS access rate, number of problems solved, lecture learning time, and whether students participated in self-assessment. Based on these criteria, the institute will select top (outstanding) students, outstanding classes, and outstanding schools.
Four students selected as top performers will receive wireless earbuds, while 1,000 outstanding students will be awarded snack coupons. For the 100 classes chosen as outstanding, commemorative gifts such as grip tok and keyrings will be provided. Five schools selected as outstanding will receive a snack truck visit to their school.
Kim Hyesun, Director of the Academic Achievement Development Institute, stated, "I hope this challenge will greatly help students develop self-directed learning habits and foster a joyful learning culture," and added, "We will actively strive to operate and improve BASS for customized learning guidance."
The Academic Achievement Development Institute has newly introduced gamification elements to the BASS platform to support students in enjoying learning through character level-up features based on their self-directed learning scores, in connection with the 'Challenge! Oh~BASS! (5.5.5. Practice) Campaign.'
