Yonsei University announced on the 19th that the 'RECOMB Conference,' an academic conference in the field of computational biology, will take place from the 24th to the 29th at the Centennial Hall Concert Hall and Baekyangnuri. More than 1,200 scientists from over 30 countries, including the United States, China, Germany, and Japan, are expected to attend the event.
The RECOMB Conference, first held in 1997, is a venue for presenting and discussing the latest research results in computational biology and bioinformatics related to genomic and other types of information. This year, more than 20 world-renowned scholars will participate as speakers, including Leslie Valiant, a Harvard University professor and recipient of the 2010 Turing Award; Olga Troyanskaya, a Princeton University professor; and Kim V Narry, a Seoul National University professor. They will introduce their innovative research.
On the 24th and 25th, topic-specific conferences will be held for each field, followed by the main academic conference from the 26th to the 29th, which will cover topics such as genome analysis and protein structure prediction.
Kim Jihyun, professor of systems biology at Yonsei University and chair of the conference organizing committee, said, "With Yonsei University hosting, this conference provides an opportunity for quantum leaps in both computer science and life sciences," adding, "I believe this conference will serve as a stepping stone for sharing the latest research trends and technological advancements, as well as for exchanging academic visions."
