Providing Opportunities for Youth to Share Opinions and Participate in Policy-Making

On April 18, Muju County in North Jeolla Province announced that it had appointed eight members to the "2025 Youth Participation Committee" during a ceremony held at the activity room of the Muju Youth Training Center.

Muju County Mayor Hwang Inhong and about 10 participants, including the newly appointed committee members, attended the appointment ceremony to reaffirm their commitment to the committee's activities.

Established and operated in accordance with Article 5-2 of the Framework Act on Youth, the Muju County Youth Participation Committee is an organization designed to gather the opinions of local youth on county policies and provide them with opportunities to participate in policymaking. The committee members are composed of middle and high school students in the region, aged 14 to 18.

The 17th-term members who received their letters of appointment on this day will represent the rights and agendas of local youth for the next year. Their opinions on youth policies will be delivered to Muju County through meetings held in the first and second halves of the year.

Jo Yunjin, a second-year student at Muju High School and a member of the Muju County Youth Participation Committee, said, "I am proud to serve on Muju County's representative youth body, and I will do my best to ensure that the diverse ideas and opinions of young people are actively reflected in county policies."

Mayor Hwang Inhong stated, "The Youth Participation Committee is not just a body for presenting opinions, but an important organization that influences county policies and society. I ask all 17th-term members to do their utmost so that your activities can bring about positive changes in the county's youth policies."

Meanwhile, since 2018, a total of 13 projects have been either reflected in or promoted through the Youth Participation Committee, including the Youth Growth Center, the Complex Cultural Library, and the enactment of ordinances for the establishment and operation of the Youth Participation Committee.
