Naver Clip to Use 2.1 Million Universal Music Tracks...Enhanced Content Creation Support

Global Artist Tracks Now Available
"More Diverse Clips Expected"

On April 18, Naver announced that it has partnered with Universal Music, the world's largest record label, to support creators of its short-form video service "Clip."

Naver Clip to Use 2.1 Million Universal Music Tracks...Enhanced Content Creation Support

Naver enables Clip creators to use a variety of background music to produce videos that match their desired mood.

Through this music licensing agreement with Universal Music, Naver Clip creators can now use up to 2.1 million tracks from global artists, ranging from The Beatles to Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish. Last month, Naver also added tracks from a wide range of genres, including K-pop, indie, and jazz.

Naver has updated the Clip editor to make it even easier for creators to add background music. The platform now recommends newly released songs and tracks that are popular on Clip to help users discover music that fits their videos. Additionally, a music-saving feature has been added so creators can quickly access their frequently used tracks.

Kim Ahyoung, head of Naver Clip, stated, "As of March, the number of Clips produced has increased more than fivefold compared to the previous year, continuing strong growth. With this agreement, the inclusion of Universal Music tracks is expected to enable even more diverse Clips, and we will continue to enhance our support with a variety of tools needed for content creation."

Meanwhile, starting this month, Naver Clip has launched a new location challenge called "Today{Here}Clip." The synergy with Universal Music track support is highly anticipated. Today{Here}Clip allows users to freely share hot spots or favorite places without any thematic restrictions.

Compared to the "Clipawon Challenge" held until last month, 35% more challenge Clips were produced during the same period, with a high participation rate among users in their teens and twenties.
