The fire caused about 100㎡ of the building's interior to be destroyed, and approximately 900 lizards being bred perished.
The fire occurred in a one-story building with a steel frame sandwich panel structure, and some interior furnishings and equipment were also destroyed. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
Immediately after receiving the report, the fire authorities deployed 44 personnel (37 firefighters, 5 police officers, 2 Korea Electric Power Corporation staff) and 19 vehicles (2 command and investigation vehicles, 9 pump and tankers, 1 chemical vehicle, 2 rescue vehicles, 1 ambulance, 3 police vehicles, and 1 other) to suppress the fire. Initial suppression was completed in about 35 minutes, and the fire was fully extinguished around 8:15 a.m.
The property damage caused by this fire is estimated at approximately 31,572,000 KRW.
A fire department official stated, "Although it was a special environment with many reptiles being bred, rapid response prevented the fire from spreading," and added, "The exact cause of the fire is under investigation."
