The Credit Union Social Contribution Foundation announced on the 18th that it delivered a sponsorship fund of 780 million KRW to the Community Chest of Korea on the 16th to support the healthy growth of 6,000 children nationwide ahead of the '2025 Credit Union Eobuba Mentoring' project.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the 'Credit Union Eobuba Mentoring' is a representative social contribution project jointly conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Credit Union Foundation, the Korea National Council on Social Welfare, and the Youth Financial Education Council. In 2025, 237 credit unions and child welfare facilities across the country will participate as implementing agencies, and a customized mentoring program focused on cooperation and economy will be operated throughout the year.

Credit union employees serve as mentors, providing children with practical financial programs such as education on cooperation and economy, credit union tours, and traditional market experiences. They play a role in helping future generations positively recognize their roles and values as members of the local community. Last year, 900 mentors successfully led 1,551 sessions with 5,850 mentees.

The Credit Union Foundation is also leading efforts to realize 'Quality Education,' one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Over the past nine years, it has provided inclusive and equitable educational opportunities to more than 32,000 children and plans to continue these efforts this year.

Meanwhile, on the 16th, the Credit Union Foundation conducted 'Mentor Capacity Building Training' for 200 credit union employees participating in the mentoring program at the main auditorium of the Daejeon Credit Union Central Training Center. The training covered essential mentoring practices such as understanding children and adolescents, communication and relationship-building methods, and practical financial education know-how.

At the same event, an awards ceremony was held for outstanding institutions in the '2023·2024 Credit Union Eobuba Mentoring.' The awards were given as follows: ▲ Hoseong Credit Union, Halla Credit Union, Yeohung Credit Union, Cheonan Woori Credit Union (Minister of Health and Welfare Award) ▲ Michuhol Credit Union, Juseong Credit Union, Gyeongil Credit Union, Jeonpyeong Credit Union, Shinwoo Credit Union, Dalgu Beol Credit Union (Credit Union Central Council Chairman’s Commendation) ▲ Cheonan Woori Credit Union, Jeonju Deokjin Credit Union, Seonrin Credit Union, Sejong Woori Credit Union, Geumcheon Credit Union, Halla Credit Union (Korea National Council on Social Welfare Chairman’s Award).

Park Gyuhee, head of the Credit Union Social Contribution Foundation division, stated, "Investment in future generations is the starting point toward a better society," adding, "Going forward, credit unions will actively expand educational social contribution projects based on warm finance."
