On the 17th, OB Beer announced on the 18th that it conducted a joint campaign called "Cheer for the Blue Jeju Sea" with the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province World Heritage Headquarters at Suwolbong in Gosan-ri, Hangyeong-myeon, Jeju City, attended by OB Beer CEO Bae Hajun and John Blood, Chief Legal and Policy Officer (CLO) of AB InBev Global Headquarters.
"Cheer for the Blue Jeju Sea" is a public-private cooperative geological heritage coastal cleanup and environmental preservation campaign held along the Suwolbong Geological Trail course, a UNESCO-designated Global Geopark.
About 200 people participated in the event, including approximately 120 OB Beer employees, officials from Jeju Province and the World Heritage Headquarters, members of the Jeju Abandoned House Revitalization Social Cooperative, and local residents of Gosan-ri, Hangyeong-myeon.
At the site, a geological park guide shared the value and importance of preserving the UNESCO-designated geological heritage, and participants collected about 200 bags of marine debris such as plastics and abandoned fishing gear washed ashore by the waves along the Hanjangdong coastline.
OB Beer plans to regularize a coastal plogging program near the geological heritage sites by recruiting various participants, including OB Beer employees, in cooperation with the Jeju World Heritage Headquarters to systematically manage the outcomes and preserve Jeju’s natural heritage, which boasts outstanding scenery and value.
OB Beer CEO Bae Hajun said, "The purpose of the joint campaign is to raise awareness about the rapidly increasing marine debris in the Jeju area and to contribute to the preservation of Jeju’s outstanding natural heritage." He added, "OB Beer will take the lead in protecting Jeju’s natural heritage, which is globally recognized for its conservation value, by preparing various environmental programs."
