Polaris Office announced on the 18th that it has signed a strategic partnership for the 'AI Foundry' business with KT Cloud as the core, along with Upstage, Dinoticsia, and Rebellion.

Recently, many companies have shown interest in business innovation through AI adoption, but they face challenges such as high infrastructure investment costs, burdens in adopting and operating individual solutions, and securing expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

In response, KT Cloud is promoting the AI Foundry business, which realizes companies' AI needs 'end-to-end' by collaborating with partners who possess proven top-tier technologies in AI fields such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI models, and inference infrastructure.

Customers can easily and quickly implement AI modeling optimized for their required tasks based on KT Cloud AI Foundry, and can also optimize AI construction and operation costs by using RAG modules (parsing, embedding, etc.) priced based on actual usage.

For example, a financial company A that wants to launch an 'AI Financial Advisor' can automatically process about 5,000 investment reports and market analysis documents daily through KT Cloud AI Foundry and swiftly and efficiently implement a 'customer consultation service that recommends optimal products based on a knowledge base.'

KT Cloud plans to introduce a customer-participatory pilot program within the second quarter ahead of the official launch of the AI Foundry service. Companies of all sizes and industries, from large corporations to startups, can participate in this program free of charge, gaining opportunities to develop and validate AI prototype models.

At the partnership signing ceremony held on the 17th at KT Cloud headquarters, key officials including Gong Yongjun, Head of KT Cloud, Kwon Sunil, Vice President of Upstage, Noh Hongchan, CDO of Dinoticsia, Lee Haeseok, Vice President of Polaris Office, and Oh Jinwook, CTO of Rebellion, attended and discussed future business plans.

This partnership aims to quickly refine customer-owned data and launch services that easily implement reliable AI systems through lightweight AI models and modular RAG services. To this end, the five companies agreed to collaborate in their respective areas of expertise, including RAG, AI models, and inference infrastructure.

In particular, Polaris Office will be responsible for document parsing within the RAG-based structure, which is recognized as a core technology for implementing generative AI through this partnership. Document parsing is a technology that accurately extracts key information from various documents and organizes it into a form that AI can understand, considered a crucial preprocessing step that determines the performance of generative AI.

Polaris Office possesses advanced parsing technology that automatically extracts text, tables, images, etc., from various document formats such as HWP, PDF, Word, and Excel through its self-developed Universal Engine, and processes them into forms optimized for AI learning. This technology is evaluated as a core technology that constitutes the foundational data for the entire RAG process and is expected to significantly contribute to improving the accuracy and reliability of Korean AI models.

Lee Haeseok, Head of Business Division and Vice President of Group AI at Polaris Office, stated, "Based on document technology accumulated by supplying to 134 million individual users in 243 countries and over 600 companies, we plan to actively target the AI market," adding, "We will continue to introduce various AI solutions through document data processing technology and leap forward as a representative AI company of Korea."

Meanwhile, Polaris Office, as the first domestic native office software company, won the AI Innovation Award at 'CES 2025,' the world's largest ICT convergence exhibition. Leveraging this opportunity, the company plans to expand paid subscribers in North and Central America, the world's largest market, to strengthen the global competitiveness of its app 'Polaris Office AI.'
