Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Soon-hee) has introduced QR codes and digital signage to provide easier and clearer guidance on passport issuance procedures.
This measure aims to reduce common confusion in document preparation and omissions during the passport application process. It features sequentially presented related images for each step, offering intuitive and systematic information guidance.
Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, is introducing the digital signage for passport issuance guidance posted in the civil service office on the first floor of Gangbuk-gu Office. Provided by Gangbuk-gu.
By scanning the QR code with a smartphone, applicants can check key information such as passport application procedures, required documents, and photo specifications along with step-by-step images. Examples of how to fill out major documents like the passport application form and legal guardian consent form are also provided, enabling applicants to prepare their documents accurately.
Additionally, the district included a statement in the QR code indicating that "no personal information input or separate program installation is required" to prevent phishing (hacking) attacks. The passport issuance guidance QR code and banner links can be found on the Gangbuk-gu Office website, blog, and social networking services (SNS).
Alongside this, to assist digitally vulnerable groups with limited information access, the district installed touch-type digital signage in the civil service office on the first floor of the district office. Citizens can select the desired information step-by-step on the screen, allowing them to easily check necessary details and reduce waiting time without staff assistance.
A district official stated, "We have strengthened digital guidance to help citizens easily understand and prepare the procedures required for passport issuance," adding, "We will continue to expand convenient administrative services centered on residents."
