Dr. Lee Jong-cheol, Head of Gangnam-gu Public Health Center,
to Launch 'AI Health Consultation Room'
Combining Expert Consultations with Real-Time AI Analysis
Free One-on-One Internal Medicine Health Consultations Available by Reservation
Gangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will officially operate the 'AI Health Consultation Room,' which integrates artificial intelligence into the public health sector, starting next month. The head of the public health center will meet residents directly at the center of consultations, while artificial intelligence (AI) supports the analysis, providing customized health consultation services for district residents.
The 'AI Health Consultation Room' involves Dr. Lee Jong-cheol, an internal medicine specialist who is the head of the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center and former president of Samsung Medical Center as well as the personal physician of Lee Kun-hee, participating as the main consultant to conduct one-on-one face-to-face consultations with residents. An assistant staff member inputs the health information of the consultees into ChatGPT, and AI analysis results are provided in real time.
Based on the analysis results, the head of the public health center provides professional diagnosis and health management advice. The AI analyzes information such as age, gender, and health history to enhance the precision and predictive power of the consultations.
Dr. Lee Jong-cheol emphasized, "AI is merely a support tool for medical professionals, and the final judgment is entrusted to experts on site," adding, "The core of realizing human-centered digital medical services is not technology but 'people.'"
Consultations will be held every Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the first-floor clinic of the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center and will be operated through advance reservations for 12 adults on a first-come, first-served basis each month. The main consultation area is internal medicine health consultations, and the consultations are provided free of charge.
Reservations can be made through the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center website, and consent procedures for personal information collection and AI analysis utilization must be completed. After the consultation, satisfaction surveys and follow-up care through hospital referrals will be conducted if necessary. The district plans to analyze consultation results monthly and establish a feedback system that reflects the feedback.
District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong stated, "This health consultation room is a new model that combines expert capabilities and AI in administrative and health services and will serve as an opportunity for the public health center to become closer to residents," adding, "We will continue to create a friendly public health center that residents can trust and visit anytime through proactive administration utilizing new technologies."
