Safety Inspections of Outdoor Advertisements on Major Roads and Near Schools in Preparation for Typhoons and Heavy Rain
Establishing a Rapid Response System through Public-Private Cooperation in Emergency Situations
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it is conducting safety inspections of outdoor advertisements to prepare for wind and flood damage until the 25th.
Outdoor advertisements that are corroded due to aging or improperly installed can cause safety accidents during wind and flood disasters such as typhoons, monsoons, and heavy rains. The district is promoting safety inspections of outdoor advertisements to prevent safety accidents caused by wind and flood damage during the summer season.
The main inspection areas are major roads within the district such as Siheung-daero, Nambusunhwan-ro, Doksan-ro, and within a 300m radius of schools. The inspection targets include wall-mounted signs, projecting signs, rooftop signs, pole-mounted signs, and banner posting facilities. In addition to those subject to inspection under laws and ordinances, advertisements that pose safety risks will also be inspected.
Experts working in teams of two are inspecting outdoor advertisements using visual checks and equipment. If issues such as aging are found, corrective orders will be issued to complete repairs and reinforcements by the end of June.
From July to September, when typhoons are concentrated, the district will establish a 24-hour emergency contact system with associations, community centers, and the facility management corporation to strengthen patrol and maintenance activities.
Additionally, in October, additional inspections will be conducted to closely examine whether there are any safety abnormalities in outdoor advertisements caused by typhoons.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "We will do our best to prevent disasters and safety accidents caused by outdoor advertisements through thorough inspections and protect the safety and property rights of residents."
Since 2022, the district has conducted safety inspections on 1,355 outdoor advertisements and found 153 issues, taking measures such as repairs, reinforcements, and removals.
