Five Youth Shops Including Dobong-gu Supported Restaurants and Pet Photo Studios Begin Operations

Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) supported five youth-run stores that opened their doors at the end of March.

Just over two weeks since opening, they are already popular among residents. Searching the store names on portal sites and social networking services (SNS) reveals an abundance of reviews.

The youth stores receiving such enthusiastic attention are the customer-tailored udon specialty shop 'Katte' (Dobong-ro 110ba-gil 18), bakery and rice cake specialty shop 'Angle' (Dobong-ro 136ga-gil 4), fusion Korean restaurant 'Gildong Music' (Dobong-ro 109-gil 11), pet photography studio 'Neoilhaebom' (Uicheon-ro 4da-gil 68), and customer-tailored pet grooming salon 'Haneulhage' (Uicheon-ro 20-gil 7).

Previously, the district recruited young entrepreneurs within the area to support youth startups and selected five young people with strong entrepreneurial will and original ideas.

The selected youths leased stores in locations best suited to realize their startup ideas, and the district supported up to 70% of remodeling costs, with a maximum of 20 million KRW. The district also plans to support monthly rent up to 500,000 KRW for one year.

A youth entrepreneur participating in the project, Mr. A, expressed gratitude to the district, saying, "Initial costs were not easy to manage, so even with ideas, I hesitated to start a business, but thanks to the district's support, I was able to begin like this."

The district plans to continue supporting them for successful business settlement. A district official stated, "We plan to provide continuous follow-up management such as startup consulting in connection with the Dobong-gu Youth Startup Center."

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "I hope these five youth stores grow to become representative stores of Dobong-gu," and added, "We will do our best to promote related projects to further strengthen a youth startup-friendly environment in the region."
