The government has launched the 'One-Stop Customs Response Support Headquarters,' a revamped version of the existing One-Stop Export Support Team, in response to the additional tariffs imposed by the United States. It serves as an integrated control tower that handles all support processes from resolving customs difficulties to policy coordination in a unified manner.
On the 17th, the Ministry of Economy and Finance held the 2nd inter-agency domestic response task force meeting on trade issues, chaired by First Vice Minister Kim Beom-seok, to review the industry-specific impacts and response measures following the U.S. tariff imposition. Key ministries including the Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and Financial Services Commission participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, it was decided to reorganize the existing 'One-Stop Export and Order Support Team,' which had been providing export-related support, into the 'One-Stop Customs Response Support Headquarters.' The Support Headquarters plans to integrate and manage customs response tasks that had been individually handled by export-related organizations such as KOTRA, the Korea International Trade Association, and the Small and Medium Business Corporation, providing end-to-end 'one-stop' support from information provision to financial and policy assistance.
Within the Support Headquarters, four teams will be newly established: Industry & SMEs, ICT & Bio, Finance & Supply Chain, and Agriculture & Fisheries. On-site difficulties will be monitored continuously, and issues requiring institutional improvements will be addressed in coordination with eight working groups under the inter-agency task force. Future discussion outcomes will be utilized for policy responses in ministerial-level meetings such as the Economic Security Ministerial Meeting, the Foreign Economic Ministerial Meeting, and the Industrial Competitiveness Meeting.
