The completion ceremony for Korea SMC Co., Ltd.'s Daejeon Second Plant was held on the 17th in the Foreign Investment Zone of Dungok District, Yuseong-gu, attended by Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo, Korea SMC CEO Sasahira Naoyoshi, Daejeon City Council Chairman Cho Wonhui, and others.

Korea SMC is the Korean subsidiary of Japan's SMC Group, established in 1995. Since 1997, it has operated its first Daejeon plant in Sinil-dong, Daedeok-gu, Daejeon.

The second plant, built with an investment of 58.7 billion KRW, covers a total floor area of 33,000 square meters (about 10,000 pyeong) and has three above-ground floors. It will produce essential factory automation system products such as thermo chillers, electric actuators, and air cylinders. The plant is expected to create over 50 new jobs and have a positive impact on the local economy.

Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo stated, "It is highly significant that a foreign-invested company has decided to expand its investment in Daejeon with such confidence," adding, "Daejeon City will do its utmost to create a business-friendly environment so that companies can grow together with the city and establish strong roots here."

Meanwhile, Daejeon City previously succeeded in attracting a 430 billion KRW bio-processing production center by global bio company Merck of Germany to the Foreign Investment Zone in Dungok District.
