Official Name Confirmed as "Jeonnam Mirae International High School"
Aims to Nurture Glocal Talents and Serve as a Model for Multicultural Vocational Education
The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 17th that the official name of the (tentatively named) Jeonnam International Vocational High School, scheduled to open on March 1 next year, has been confirmed as "Jeonnam Mirae International High School."
The process of selecting the school name began in earnest with a public contest open to all residents of the province from March 11 to 24. After the first round of screening, five candidate names were chosen, and from April 1 to 4, an online survey was conducted to gather feedback from the educational community.
As a result of the survey, "Jeonnam Mirae International High School," which received the highest level of support, was finalized as the official name after the School Name Selection Committee's final review.
The name "Jeonnam Mirae International High School" embodies the vision of fostering glocal talents who will lead the future of Jeonnam. In particular, it is highly regarded as a name that well reflects the vision of a specialized alternative vocational school where students from diverse cultural backgrounds, both domestic and international, learn and grow together.
Kim Jongman, Director of Glocal Education Cooperation, stated, "The name captures well the purpose of establishing the school and its educational direction," and added, "We will actively support Jeonnam Mirae International High School so that it can become a leading model that integrates multiculturalism and vocational education, serving as a hub for nurturing talents who connect the region and the world."
Meanwhile, Jeonnam Mirae International High School, which will be established in Gangjin-gun, plans to provide Korean language education along with practical, job-oriented training in fields such as machinery, electricity, and construction for youth with migrant backgrounds and international students.
