Over 500 Participants with and without Disabilities
Diverse Programs Including Performances, Awards, and Experience Booths
Gwangju Buk-gu will hold a commemorative event in celebration of the 45th Day of Persons with Disabilities, bringing together people with and without disabilities.
Buk-gu announced on the 17th that it will host the Day of Persons with Disabilities event under the slogan "Walking Together, A Happier World for All!" on the 18th from 1 p.m. in the area of Sikhwa Culture Village on Gakhwa-daero, Buk-gu.
About 500 people, including families of persons with disabilities, organization representatives, and local residents, will attend the event. The program will include a pre-ceremony performance, opening ceremony, awards presentation, cultural performances, and various side events.
The pre-ceremony stage will be set up in the outdoor space of Sikhwa Culture Village, where a performance team consisting of both people with and without disabilities will present pan flute and ukulele performances along with a sand art show. The main event, held in the grand auditorium, will feature awards for 20 distinguished individuals, performances, and commemorative photos.
The cultural performance segment will include invited singers as well as talent shows by persons with disabilities.
There will also be a total of 15 side booths set up outdoors at the event venue. Various experience and promotional programs are prepared, including exhibitions and sales of products made by people with severe disabilities, free assistive device repairs, disability awareness campaigns, health check-ups, and keyring making activities. Seven welfare facilities for persons with disabilities, Buk-gu district office departments, and the Munhwa-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee will participate in running the booths.
