"We Will Guarantee the Right to Work Safely"
Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju is preparing customized safety training for mobile workers such as delivery and quick service riders.
Gwangsan-gu announced on the 16th that it will conduct safety training for 300 mobile workers in a total of eight sessions from June 4 to September 10.
This training has been designed to raise safety awareness and prevent accidents among mobile workers, who are frequently exposed to risks due to not wearing helmets, reckless driving, and similar behaviors. The training will be operated in cooperation with relevant organizations such as the Road Traffic Authority, Gwangju Police Agency, and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.
The main topics include safe riding practices for two-wheeled vehicles, traffic regulations, and how to respond in the event of an accident. Those who complete the training will receive local currency worth 50,000 KRW, which can be used at cafes and convenience stores, as well as financial support for purchasing safety gear such as helmets and knee protectors.
Park Byungkyu, the head of the district office, said, "With the expansion of platform labor, the proportion of mobile workers, especially delivery workers, is increasing," and added, "We will strengthen institutional support so that workers can work in a safer environment."
Meanwhile, Gwangsan-gu has designated 52 cafes and convenience stores in the region as 'Mobile Worker Rest Areas' to guarantee rest rights for mobile workers. For more information or to apply for the training, please visit the Gwangsan-gu Office website or contact the Job Policy Division.
