Yeonggwang County in Jeollanam-do announced that starting this month, it will carry out maintenance work for the continuous management of the Southwest Coast Restoration Forest and to ensure the safe and pleasant use of the Baeksu Coastal Road.
This project is an important initiative for protecting the local environment and revitalizing tourism, and is expected to provide a better environment for both local residents and visitors.
The Southwest Coast Restoration Forest project focuses on restored areas that allow various species to inhabit the region.
As part of this project, in 2021, Yeonggwang County invested 400 million KRW to build stone steps around the 365 Steps area of Baeksu Coastal Road and planted various flowers and trees, including Mokgamju.
The current maintenance work focuses on enhancing ecological stability by checking the health of trees, removing harmful plants, and improving soil conditions.
The Baeksu Coastal Road Forest Landscape Maintenance Project, which is a key task for 2025, will prioritize enhancing the visual beauty and natural charm of the coastal forest landscape viewed by visitors, as well as increasing the ecological value of native tree species.
An official from Yeonggwang County stated, "We will continue our efforts to protect the environmental value of this area and to further enrich the ecosystem in the future."
