Seo-gu District in Gwangju City announced on the 17th that Nam Gahi, an official, has been selected as the top proactive public servant for the second half of 2024 for resolving residents’ differing opinions on the creation of a youth autonomous space through communication.
Nam was highly praised for her achievement in garnering participation from over 70% of apartment residents and obtaining a majority agreement by consistently communicating through resident briefings and senior center meetings, despite divided opinions among residents regarding the installation of the youth autonomous space.
In the second half of last year, Seo-gu selected the following as outstanding cases: Jo Taebeom from the Construction Department for installing 'Clog-Free Rainwater Drains' to address flooding areas; Kim Enda from the Resource Circulation Department for promoting the development of the resource circulation mobile app 'OnlyUse'; and the Tax Collection Team from Taxation Department 2 for implementing the 'Finding Unclaimed Local Tax Refunds for Deceased Taxpayers' initiative.
Seo-gu selected outstanding cases based on residents’ satisfaction, the importance of the tasks, and the criteria of proactiveness, creativity, and expertise. Selected individuals are granted benefits such as performance points, reward bonuses, and reward leave.
Baek Namin, Deputy District Head and chairperson of the Proactive Administration Committee, said, "We deeply appreciate the efforts of our staff who constantly strive for residents’ happiness and actively respond to change," adding, "We will continue to build a virtuous Seo-gu that residents can truly feel through demand-centered proactive administration."
