Overall Delay Rate Drops by 5.62 Percentage Points
Operational Stability Enhanced Through Maintenance Technician Recruitment
Jeju Air announced on the 17th that its maintenance delay rate in the first quarter of this year improved by 0.6 percentage points compared to the same period last year, recording 0.73% (166 out of 22,863 flights) compared to 1.33% in the previous year.
During the same period, the domestic maintenance delay rate decreased by 0.76 percentage points from 1.68% to 0.92%, and the international maintenance delay rate decreased by 0.42 percentage points from 0.97% to 0.55%.
The overall delay rate, including delays caused by maintenance, weather conditions, air traffic flow, and aircraft connections, was recorded at 21.49%, which is 5.62 percentage points lower than 27.11% in the same period last year.
The maintenance delay rate, which indicates the proportion of flight delays caused by aircraft maintenance issues, is used as a key indicator to evaluate an airline’s safety and on-time operation capability. Jeju Air reduced its number of flights by approximately 14% in the first quarter of this year to enhance operational stability.
To strengthen operational stability, Jeju Air is also recruiting maintenance technicians in the operation, airframe, cabin maintenance, and maintenance management sectors. Additionally, overseas engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) companies certified by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) performed medium-level maintenance on 18 engines in 2023 and 14 engines last year.
