'The Most Beautiful Festival in Seoul'... Preparations Begin for the 17th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival

The '17th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival,' which will beautifully adorn Jungnang's May, officially began preparations with a promotion briefing held on the 16th.

The briefing, held at the Jungnang-gu underground auditorium (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi), was attended by about 100 people, including the Jungnang Cultural Foundation Festival Promotion Committee, various departments of the district office, the Korea Rose Association, related organizations, and local residents. They shared plans for the festival and exchanged diverse opinions to ensure its successful hosting.

Marking its 17th year, the 'Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival' will take place from May 16 to 24 for nine days around the Jungnangcheon Rose Tunnel area. The main event, the Grand Rose Festival, will be held over three days from May 16 to 18, and on May 24, the 'Jungnang Artist Festival' will be held around the Gyeomjaegyo Bridge area. During the festival period, various cultural and artistic performances and exhibitions will be held throughout the Jungnangcheon area, promising to satisfy visitors' five senses.

The 17th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival will be operated under the slogan "The Most Beautiful Festival in Seoul," emphasizing the festival's tradition and history, centered on three key promotion strategies to make Jungnang-gu the city of roses.

The first is "Strengthening the Historical Significance of the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival." Through a nostalgic photo contest and historical exhibitions reflecting on the festival's journey from its inception to the present, stories of Jungnang's roses will be embedded throughout the festival grounds.

The second is "Enhancing Content Linked to the Rose Industry." The "Rose Exhibition Hall" will move beyond the traditional simple booth format to operate as a pop-up store, creating a space that showcases the unique charm of the rose festival. Here, visitors can enjoy various rose-related programs in one place, including rose exhibitions, rose markets, and rose industry fairs.

The third is "Improving Resident Participation Programs." The festival will be operated so that residents can directly participate and take the lead, establishing themselves as the main agents of the festival. Through activities such as planting and nurturing companion roses together, the identity of "Rose City Jungnang" will be spread. Experience programs like the rose outdoor library, flea markets, and resident performances and exhibitions will be strengthened to create an inclusive, participatory festival that everyone can enjoy together.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, "The Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival is growing beyond a simple local festival to become a cultural brand representing Jungnang-gu," adding, "We will do our best to prioritize residents' happiness and safety, making it a festival that everyone can enjoy and want to revisit."
