First Completion of Street Housing Maintenance Project in Seongnam
Renovation of Old Residential Areas with Preservation of Local Infrastructure
Mayor Shin Sang-jin: "A Practical Step Toward Better Living Environments for Citizens"

Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) announced on the 17th that it has completed the approval for the completion of the Samdu Apartment and Eunyoung Villa Street Housing Maintenance Project carried out in the area of 120-1 Hadaewon-dong. This is the first case of completion among the street housing maintenance projects being promoted in Seongnam City.

This project aims to improve the residential environment of residents by renovating low-rise residential areas densely packed with old and deteriorated houses. It was carried out using the 'street housing maintenance project' method, which allows small-scale maintenance on a block basis while maintaining the existing street (road) layout.

This project is characterized by the ability to renovate old houses into multi-family housing while maintaining the local living infrastructure such as alleys, making it faster and more effective compared to large-scale redevelopment.

The project site was developed on a 3,930㎡ plot with two buildings ranging from two basement floors to 15 above-ground floors, consisting of 145 multi-family housing units, commercial spaces, a community room for residents, an underground parking lot, and other auxiliary facilities.

This area was originally a mixed region of old low-rise apartments and villas, where ongoing parking difficulties and residential inconveniences had been consistently raised. Accordingly, 133 landowners received approval for the establishment of an association in 2019, obtained approval for the project implementation plan in 2021, started construction in 2022, and completed the construction in April 2025.

Mayor Shin Sang-jin of Seongnam City said, "This first completion is a practical first step toward improving the residential environment for citizens and a good example showing the potential of the street housing maintenance project. We will continue to promote maintenance projects that citizens can feel, striving to transform more areas into better residential neighborhoods."

Based on this achievement, Seongnam City expects other ongoing street housing maintenance projects to gain full momentum.
