Food Market is a grocery-specialized store first introduced by Emart in December last year at the Suseong Branch in Daegu. This Food Market is being launched in Seoul for the first time in five years after about five months of pilot testing, representing the next Emart model that intensively demonstrates Emart's core business competitiveness in 'grocery product development and planning know-how.' Essential shopping items are offered at the lowest price level to reduce the burden on customers' shopping baskets, while health-conscious, unique, and premium ingredients have been strengthened.

Emart Food Market Godeok Branch is located on the basement first floor of 'Gangdong I-Park The River' in Godeok Gangil District, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, covering an area of 4,925㎡ (1,490 pyeong). Especially, the shopping mall where the Godeok Branch is located is expected to attract many customers in their 20s and 30s, and reflecting the characteristics of the new town, many customers in their 30s and 40s reside there, so it has been differentiated as a model specializing in fresh food and ready-to-eat deli products.

To this end, Emart filled about 95% of the directly managed area excluding tenants, which is 3,471㎡ (1,050 pyeong), with 13,000 grocery items from Emart grocery stores. Also, the top 10 essential fresh food items for shopping are sold at the lowest price level, and 21 specialized zones unique to the Godeok Branch are introduced to maximize the advantages of offline shopping. Representative top 10 fresh items include domestic refrigerated pork belly and neck meat at 1,980 KRW per 100g, marinated beef bulgogi (800g) at 9,980 KRW per pack, prepared squid (thawed, Argentina, China) at 1,980 KRW per piece, and Happy abalone (10 pieces) at 9,900 KRW.

In addition, the uniform price zone for daily necessities is strengthened. Over 120 items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, cleansing foam, treatment, soap, body wash, cosmetics, and mask packs are sold at 1,990 KRW, 2,990 KRW, 3,990 KRW, and 5,990 KRW, preparing a budget-friendly shopping zone.

The Godeok Branch also operates its own specialized zones. These include 'Global Garden,' which gathers imported fruits and European vegetables; the newly developed 'Fresh Snack' zone featuring well-being snack cups and stick vegetables; the 'K-Black Pork' zone selling three types of premium domestic black pork; the 'All that Salmon' zone; the deli corner's 'Tasty Pick' zone targeting office workers with daily menu suggestions; and the bakery specialty store 'Mill & Bakery.' Additionally, new mini edit shops such as 'Sweet Street,' featuring new imported jellies and biscuits, and the cheese specialty corner 'Cheese Please' are introduced.

Meanwhile, Emart Food Market Godeok Branch is the second store to open in the Seoul area this year after Emart opened the warehouse discount store 'Traders Wholesale Club Magok Branch' in Gangseo-gu in February. It is the first time in 13 years since 2012 that Emart has opened two stores in Seoul in one year. Considering the 'Emart Food Market Suseong Branch' opened in Daegu last December, three stores have been opened consecutively within just four months.

Accordingly, the number of Emart stores is expected to shift to an increasing trend after five years. Additional Traders stores are also planned to open in the Incheon area in the second half of the year. Emart plans to use this opportunity to accelerate external growth and strengthen the competitiveness of its offline retail core business.

Han Chaeyang, CEO of Emart, said, "In February, we introduced the Traders Magok Branch, a warehouse discount store format in the growth sector, to the Gangseo area of Seoul, and in April, we newly presented the grocery-centered 'Next Emart' model in the Gangdong area. Going forward, we will continue to create new standards for grocery shopping with innovative store operations and differentiated products such as the Food Market format and mall types."
