The Democratic Party of Korea stated on the 16th that Acting President and Prime Minister Han Deok-su should withdraw the nomination of the Constitutional Court justice candidate and apologize to the public.
Cho Seung-rae, the chief spokesperson of the Democratic Party, said in a statement that "the Constitutional Court unanimously accepted the injunction to suspend the effect of Acting Prime Minister Han's nomination as a Constitutional Court justice just moments ago."
He added, "The very idea that the acting president would nominate a Constitutional Court justice for the president's quota was nonsensical from the start," emphasizing, "It was a personnel coup attempt to entrench a suspect accused of treason in the Constitutional Court."
Cho said, "The authority and duties granted to Acting President Han are solely to fairly manage the upcoming presidential election held due to the ousted treason ringleader and to maintain stable governance until the new government takes office," urging, "He must stop reckless actions."
He further stated, "Acting President Han should seriously reflect on the significance of this Constitutional Court decision," and added, "He must remember that any attempt to entrench himself or any abuse of power amid the confusion will not be tolerated."
