Constitutional Court Suspends Effectiveness of 'Korean Judge Nomination' After 8 Days... Injunction Granted Yonhap News

On the 16th, the Constitutional Court accepted the provisional injunction request filed by Kim Jeong-hwan, a lawyer from the law firm Dodam, and made this decision. As a result, the effect of Acting President Han's nomination of Lee Wan-gyu, Director of the Ministry of Government Legislation, and Ham Sang-hoon, Chief Judge of the Seoul High Court, as candidates for Constitutional Court Justice has been temporarily suspended.

The suspension period will last until the ruling on the constitutional complaint filed by lawyer Kim, which seeks a declaration of unconstitutionality regarding the exercise of the appointment authority for justices. The Constitutional Court has prohibited Acting President Han from proceeding with all appointment procedures, including submitting the personnel hearing request, sending the personnel hearing report, and appointing Constitutional Court justices following the nomination.
