Gwangju Nambu Fire Station (Chief Park Chunghoon) announced on the 16th that it conducted a joint fire drill at Hyoin Rehabilitation Hospital, a facility for disaster-vulnerable individuals.
This joint fire drill involved 25 members from the Nambu Fire Station's on-site command and firefighting teams, as well as approximately 100 staff members from Hyoin Rehabilitation Hospital. The main components of the drill included: ▲ initial fire extinguishing activities led by the fire safety manager and the hospital's self-defense fire brigade ▲ evacuation drills for patients with limited mobility ▲ fire suppression using indoor fire hydrants ▲ and education on response measures in the event of a fire.
Park Chunghoon, Chief of Nambu Fire Station, stated, "There is a high risk of mass casualties in rehabilitation hospitals where many elderly patients have difficulty moving or evacuating quickly in the event of a fire," and added, "Prompt initial fire extinguishing activities and evacuation according to pre-established plans are crucial, so we will continue to conduct joint drills with these factors in mind."
