Acting President and Prime Minister Han Ducksoo visited HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Dong-gu, Ulsan, on the afternoon of the 16th to inspect the shipbuilding site.

This visit was conducted as an on-site inspection in response to the recent announcement of reciprocal tariff measures by the United States, which has heightened uncertainty in the global trade environment, and to highlight the importance of the "shipbuilding industry" as one of the three major areas of cooperation between Korea and the United States.

Acting President Han Ducksoo visited the Ulsan Shipyard of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, which boasts the world's largest scale and top-level shipbuilding technology, toured the shipbuilding facilities, encouraged executives and employees, and listened to voices from the field.

He also said, "Since the US government has announced that it will prioritize negotiations with allies such as Korea, we will do our utmost to minimize tariffs and other burdens and to promote mutual benefits between the two countries through negotiations."

Acting President Han emphasized, "During a phone call with President Trump on the 8th, we also agreed to strengthen Korea-US cooperation in shipbuilding," and added, "Recently, the US government has strongly expressed its intention to rebuild the shipbuilding industry, and since our shipbuilding industry possesses high technological capability, skilled workforce, and advanced infrastructure, strengthening Korea-US cooperation will promote mutual benefits for both countries and serve as a valuable opportunity for the resurgence of our shipbuilding industry."
