On Earth Day, April 22, a lights-off event will be held from 8:00 PM to 8:10 PM on Tuesday, turning off lights to illuminate the earth.

'Earth Day' is a global commemorative day that began as a civic movement in the United States on April 22, 1970, following an offshore oil spill in California in 1969. Its purpose is to raise nationwide awareness of environmental issues and to protect the environment of the earth. Every year, the week surrounding Earth Day is designated as Climate Change Week.

This 17th Climate Change Week will be held under the slogan "Let's Take Climate Action! Let's Adapt to a New Lifestyle!" to encourage the practice of carbon neutrality in daily life and strengthen adaptive capacity, aiming to solve the climate crisis together.

The city plans to hold a lights-off event and promote joining the Carbon Neutrality Points program around Yangsan Station on Earth Day to encourage low-carbon lifestyles.

In addition, the lights-off event from 8:00 PM to 8:10 PM on April 22 will target public institutions such as the city hall building and major landmarks like Yangsan Tower. For buildings such as apartment complexes, the city will encourage voluntary participation through publicity, including turning off lights and lighting, and shutting down electronic devices such as computers.

A Yangsan City official said, "We ask that many citizens show interest and participate in this lights-off event, brightening the earth for 10 minutes, and that many citizens actively join in voluntary carbon neutrality practices such as energy saving."
