Handonghun: "Majority Candidates Are 'Yunsimpali'... Public Sentiment Is 50 Million Times More Important"

In Response to 'Coalition with the Democratic Party' Proposal:
"We Will First Defeat the Democratic Party"
Han Duck-soo as Acting President Called a "Politically Engineered Player"

Han Dong-hoon, a former leader who entered the People Power Party's presidential primary, stated that many candidates are talking about Yunsim (the mind of former President Yoon Seok-yeol) and are pandering to Yunsim. He emphasized that in South Korea today, public sentiment is exactly 50 million times more important than Yunsim.

On the 16th, Han Dong-hoon responded this way to the question "Where is Yunsim in the party primary process?" on KBS1 Radio's 'Jeonggyeok Sisa'.

Regarding the 'traitor frame' being raised by some, he said, "Then, if you were the party leader at 10:30 p.m. on December 3, 2024, should you not have stopped the martial law?" He questioned, "Who should a politician prioritize loyalty to? South Korea or Yoon Seok-yeol as an individual?"

About the 'responsibility theory for the crushing defeat in the general election' emerging within the party, he added, "If that were true, I would not have been elected party leader just a few months later with 63% of party members' and public support." He continued, "Party members and the public are accurately judging where the merits and demerits of that general election lie."

Han also shared his thoughts on Acting President Han Duck-soo's potential presidential candidacy. He criticized, "This is not a story that came out because the people wanted to endorse someone, but some lawmakers just politically picked a player." He asked, "Who gave them that authority?"

He pointed out, "We need to think logically. Who would agree to Acting President Han waiting for a walkover, and who would consider that fair?"

Finally, regarding candidate Hong Joon-pyo's proposal of a 'big conservative tent against Lee Jae-myung' and his statement that 'if necessary, a coalition government can be formed,' Han said, "Talking about a coalition with the Democratic Party at this stage hurts the hearts of our supporters." He emphasized, "Before talking about a coalition, we will first defeat the Democratic Party."

Meanwhile, on the same day, eight candidates (Kim Moon-soo, Na Kyung-won, Ahn Cheol-soo, Yang Hyang-ja, Yoo Jeong-bok, Lee Cheol-woo, Han Dong-hoon, and Hong Joon-pyo) were confirmed to advance to the first round of the People Power Party's presidential primary. Hwang Woo-yeo, the election commission chairman, explained, "We made the final decision after reviewing whether the candidates possessed qualities that meet the public's expectations, their competitiveness, and any disqualifications."
