Pet Talk Show Featuring Kang Hyungwook, Lee Woongjong, and Seol Chaehyun
Imsil County in North Jeolla Province will hold the '40th Uigyeon Cultural Festival and 2025 Imsil N Pet Star' at Osu Uigyeon Park from July 3rd to 5th.
According to the county on the 16th, the Uigyeon Cultural Festival is a celebration that began in 1982 to honor the spirit of gratitude in Osu, the birthplace of Uigyeon, the dog who rescued his sleeping master and sacrificed his own life?a story so famous it is featured in elementary school textbooks.

This year's festival, reflecting the era of 15 million pet owners, will feature a variety of programs, entertainment, and food focused on all things related to companion animals.
Main programs include a pet fashion show, a pet talk show, a pet industry expo, grooming and beauty experiences with university students majoring in animal studies from across the country, medical and traditional Korean medicine centers, pet education programs such as "Walking the Flower Road Together in Imsil," a pet healing camp, and more?offering activities that owners and their pets can enjoy together.
The opening celebration on the 3rd will feature performances by trot stars Son Taejin and Lee Chanwon, while the Choi Gap-seok Song Festival on the 4th will showcase the "Trot Big 3" including Kim Heejae, delivering spectacular shows.
The pet fashion show will be judged by comedians from KBS's Gag Concert, who will evaluate teams presenting unique runways with their pets.
The pet talk show will invite Kang Hyungwook, Professor Lee Woongjong, and veterinarian Seol Chaehyun, raising expectations for the program as they address questions from pet families.
Special demonstrations by working dogs will be held twice daily, and a permanent agility zone will allow pet owners and their dogs to interact, providing unique attractions and hands-on experiences.
For food, a variety of local specialties will be offered, including premium Korean beef from cows under 50 months old raised in the pristine environment of Imsil.
Meanwhile, the county is operating the Osu Pet Memorial Park, a public pet funeral facility, and plans to open the Osu Uigyeon National Leisure Camping Site for pet-friendly camping.
Imsil is also promoting the creation of a World Famous Dog Theme Land, a future-oriented pet industry complex combining education, experience, and tourism functions with world-renowned breeds, aiming to become a sacred place for pets and a mecca for the pet industry.
County Governor Shim Min said, "Imsil N Pet Star is a festival where pets and their families can communicate and interact to establish a desirable culture of pet protection. We will do our utmost to ensure that Imsil N Pet Star, held in Imsil?the future sanctuary for 15 million pet owners?grows into a global hub of pet culture."
